Smart Card EDIPI Number and Username is Located on Smart Card - CaC

  • Microsoft Community,

We have a mandate to populate our user account in our Active Directory container with a Numbered ID that comes on our Smart Cards chips. We use a MiddleWare called ActiveClient which allows the computer to communicate with the Card Reader hardware. The point to this story is that we need a way for when a user places his card into the reader a script display, pipes, or grabs this information and places it into a text file. What type of powershell, vb, or batch script could trigger a action based off of a Smart card being inteserted into the card reader enumerate this information and place it in to the a text file.

Thanks for any input you may have!

  • Hi,

If the action will active some processes or services, we could accord to this information, to know that a smart card was inserted. And we should also contact those Smart card vendors who write smart card mini-drivers or credential providers, for more details and information.

Powershell, VB, or batch script all could be used to write a script, the premise is that we know how the insert action works.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
