MMC fails to load "Share and Storage Management" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have a Windows 2008R2 server that will not load "Share and StorageManagement".

The error is "MMC could not create the snap-in

     Name: Share and Storage Management

     CLSID: FX:{813c1b01-6624-4922-9c6c-03c315646584} "

The following other MMC snap-in's work properly:

    Computer Management

    Server Manager

    Services

    IIS

What should I do to troubleshoot the Share and Storage management MMC?

    Thanks

  • Meanwhile please check whether File Services role is installed. If so you can try to reinstall it if possible.

In addition, if it is the Itanium edition of Windows Server 2008 R2, File Services role is not available.

  • Hi,

What's the edition of your current system?

Sometimes the issue caused by a corrupt .NET Framework components and it can be fixed by removed (and reinstall) it.
