Office 2010 KMS Activation Issues

Question
-
I've installed the KMS Activation server on a Server 2008 R2 box and I am successfully licensing Windows 7 OS. I installed Office 2010 on the image for these 30 Windows 7 computers from a Volume License DVD. When I run cscript slmgr.vbs /dlv bfe7a195-4f8f-4f0b-a622-cf13c7d16864 on the server I get the result show below. Using the Volume Management Activation Tool I can see all 30 of these computers showing an OfficeProPlus-KMS Client Edition License but when I try to activate them using the KMS key they all give the same result. "The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. The count reported by your Key Management Service (KMS) is insufficient."
So there are 30 of them all talking to the KMS server and showing up in the VMAT. I have the minimum number needed to start activation but they tell me that the count is insufficient. Any suggestions why. (NOTE: I did have some issues with not doing a REARM during the Generalize Phase of the Windows 7 Sysprep setup. I did a manual "ReArm" to get Windows 7 to activate the license) Is there something similar for Office 2010 ... any suggestions?

I just finished the lab. I ran ospprearm.exe on all the boxes and succesfully activated them all. Lesson learned. Rearm the Office install prior to taking the image or on first logon after restoring the image.
Thanks for helping.

Current count says 3 while the minimum number for the KMS server to start activating clients is 5. If you see 30 in another tool is it possible that you have a rogue KMS server somewhere?Monday, November 29, 2010 10:11 PM

No not a rogue server. As I continue to read you have to rearm Office 2010 to get a unique machine ID for that product. Just Generalizing the Windows 7 install or ReArming Windows 7 does not do it all. I am hoping now that someone can confirm that all I have to do is rearm the office installs on these 30 computers to get them to register.

Just try running ospprearm.exe on one of the thirty and see if the count increases to 4 ?
