Window 7 RDP will not connect RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Windows 7 Pro X64 laptop (SP1 with RDP 8.0 enabled). I can RDP to Win 2003 servers with no issue what so ever. Windows 2008 R2 is a different story.

Open RDP and type ip or server name -- Authentication box pops up and allows entering of username and password for the server and the nothing...no error...just sits in the taskbar and does nothing. I can RDP to this same server from other windows 7 workstations (both x86 and x64).

I ran wireshark on the laptop and you see the authentication traffic to and from the server from the laptop, but then nothing else at all either source or destination for the server IP.

Anyone have thoughts as to where I can start to look? There is also nothing in the laptop event logs that would be of any help.

    Thanks.

    Scott

  • On the 2008 server go to properties of my computer. go to Remote settings. There are 3 options. you must have the option Allow Connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop. (less Secure)
