How to sync users Home folder with these OneDrive for Business folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I have a local AD. All user have a Home drive, a shared network folder. These should be bi-directional syncronized by server with the users OneDrive for Business folder. So we doesn't want to migrate the files into the cloud, we want to hold it syncronised. We dont want to use the client pc to sync the folders, we want to use a central sever.

Is there an official way or tool for this scenario?

  • Hi

Before going further, I would appreciate your help in clarifying the following situations:

    1. Have you synced this known folder to OneDrive for Business
    2. Have you set this folder as a shared folder in OneDrive?

Based on my research, I doubt OneDrive for Business could achieve this bi-directional synchronized without migrating User Home Drives to OneDrive.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you got any further questions or thoughts

I hope this information above can help you.

  • We doesn't use now the OneDrive. We use the mapped Home folders from our OnPrem Server. Because of our internet speed and the huge number of users, we doesn't want to move all userfiles to the cloud. But it would be great somtimes to access them from the cloud.

  • Hi

Thank you for your further explanation.

Based on my experience, OneDrive for Business cannot automatically synchronize the contents of a file server, it works on the content of one account.

For OneDrive for Business related issues, I suggest you reach out to OneDrive for Business Forum, related product experts may provide more suggestion.

I hope this information above can help you.
