  • When failing over, our cluster gave the following error from the node it was failing to: The driver for device \Device\RaidPort0 performed a bus reset upon request.  Source: ql2300 and Event ID: 118. What is this telling us?

  • Its telling you that the cluster issued a SCSI reset to a device during the failover. Basically, while cluster was attempting to bring the disk online, the new owner of the device was unable to obtain a reservation on the disk so MSCS issues a SCSI reset to forcefully break any reservations to the disk.

    This is normal operating procedure for MSCS when taking ownership of the device. If you want more details about this process, you can read more here:
