Windows Server 2016 Password incorrect RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Technet,

Last Friday I encounter a problem with Windows Server 2016. When I tried too login using a administrator account it wasn't unlocking. I was told that the password was incorrect and we tried multiple times and it didn't work, but when we tried to login with the same account and password on a different Windows version (server2008, windows7, server2012) it worked.

The password contained the number 2016 in it, let's say ******2016*.  Is it maybe possible that Windows Server doesn't allow a user too have a password with it's Windows server version number in it? Meaning that windows server 2016 can't have a password with *****2016* and windows server 2012 can't have a password with ******2012*?

    Kind Regards,

  • Hi,

You can have "2016" in the password on Windows Server 2016, it is not a restriction.

I have this for example in my lab with default policies.

    Best regards,
    Leon
