Cache disk retired but still active RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,

I'm running some tests in my lab with storage spaces direct on windows server 2019.

as part of my test i want to compare to types of cache disks ( NVMe vs Optane).

i want to run performance tests on the system when using one type on the disks each time.

now i have both types of disks ( 2 on each node) in the server .in order to to use of one type i set all NVMe disks to retired .

i would except the disk not to handle any IO if it's at a retied state but i ran some disk benchmark on the storage pool and it seems like the retired disk is still active. any idea how to stop this disk from getting IOs? ( i tried to remove it from the pool, got the same result)
