PerfNet problem on Windows server 2016

    Question

  • Hi,

I have problem after upgrade WS2012R2 to WS2016 with more events in application log every day:

    ID: 2006

Unable to read Server Queue performance data from the Server service. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the status code, the second four bytes contains the IOSB.Status and the next four bytes contains the IOSB.Information.

    I try:

    but after:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>lodctr /R

Error: Unable to rebuild performance counter setting from system backup store, error code is 2
    C:\WINDOWS\system32>

    I have error.

    How to resolve it ?

    Thanks,

    SnakeAG

  • Hi,

And please check if you have installed 3-party software on your server.  It may be a limitation with 32 bit software in general. Since you upgrade your server, some programs may be incompatible with server 2016, especially 3rd party soft wares.

I suggest you may follow the thread discussed before to do a check.

  • Don't know if this will fix your issue but...

Run lodctr /R a 2nd time in an admin cmd prompt and it should run succesfully. It always fails for me the first time.

  • I dont fix this issue.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>lodctr /R

Info: Successfully rebuilt performance counter setting from system backup store
    C:\WINDOWS\system32>

but the problem in event log continues:

  • Hi SnakeAG,

May I ask have you also try to check if 3-party software lead to the problem and follow the thread to do the check.

    Best Regards,

    Mary

  • Hi Mary,

How do I know which 3-party software does it do?

On this server is running from 3-party this:

    QLogic Control Suite Version 30.0.29.0

mestrelablicserver.exe - Licence server for MnovaNMR version 2.1.0-7177

    Thanks,

    SnakeAG

  • Hi,

Could that work in the thread?

Please export the running applications list with the command below when this event log is generating:
    tasklist.exe>>d:\process.txt

And as suggested, please test to perform a cleanboot to check the results after you finish the troubleshooting.

    Best Regards,

    Mary
