Client is not able to download update

    Question

The EULA is missing from the content store on the WSUS Server.

    1. Unapprove the update(s) that are affected.
    2. Run WSUSUTIL RESET to reconcile the update database with the content store and download the missing EULAs.
    3. Re-Approve the update and ensure that you accept the EULA(s) when they are presented.
    4. Rerun the detection at the client with WUAUCLT /DETECTNOW.

  • Try to reinstall WUA (Windows Update Agent):

    1) Download this: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=91237

    2) Unpack into c:\wua

    3) From command prompt, type:

    c:

    cd\

    cd wua

    WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce

Follow the instructions and then retry to perform the updates.

Yeah.. in this case, the file you're trying to find Does Not Exist (HTTP 404).

FWIW....(and for reasons I've not yet investigated)... I actually have this EULA on my system and it's timestamped December 2011. When I opened the file I discovered an ITALIAN Language EULA for Silverlight 5.

CONDIZIONI DI LICENZA PER IL SOFTWARE MICROSOFT
    MICROSOFT SILVERLIGHT 5

Which, no doubt, has nothing at all to do with Forefront Endpoint Protection.

    Or maybe not.... :-//

    79F87333BD22DFAD4571676F0C658EABDFADD162D

    79F8733BD22DFAD4571676F0C658EABDFADD162D

I've never seen a SHA-1 hash so close....

Are you sure maybe you didn't miscopy the URL??? -- given that there's an extra character in your URL!?

A WSUS filename has =40= characters. Yours has =41=.

  • Hi,

Yes could be that I miscopy the url :)

Now FEP is Working, but I have still a weird error in WSUS (it come out every 1-2 hours) :

The WSUS content directory is not accessible.

System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

       at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()

       at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.HealthMonitoring.HmtWebServices.CheckContentDirWebAccess(EventLoggingType type, HealthEventLogger logger)

    Any idea?

    Thanks

  • but I have still a weird error in WSUS (it come out every 1-2 hours) :

The WSUS content directory is not accessible.

It's not a weird error. It's a pretty common one amongst environments that have improperly tried to move the content store.

    • What is the actual pathname of your content store?
    • What is the pathname of the directory assigned to the /CONTENT v-dir in IIS?
    • What is the contents of the registry value "ContentDir" in the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Update Services\Server\Setup?

It also likely explains why the client couldn't find the EULA in the Content Store.
