screen recording software RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

We are using Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V installed and about 20 vm inside it including windows 7 and Windows 8. Now I want to install a screen recording software , which silently records the user activity and store it in a network location as there are many remote workers are signing in remotely and work full day , So i want to record their activity .

I get cam studio but its not recording silently , user may disable it or stop it..so can anyone recommend any good software...

    Thanks

  • Something like Black Shades. My point was you should be searching for Spy software to do your research.

Also if your so concerned about data going missing then perhaps another approach is required. Ultimately there is no pure technical solution to keeping data safe as your users are the weak link. Good security relies on frequent user training and also if the business is seeing this as an issue, perhaps they should implement some background checks on their employees, like a Criminal Record Check.

It's tempting to see security as an "IT" issue when in reality it needs buy in from the board down and processes followed by the whole business. Without board level support, there is no chance of staying secure :)

  • "without their knowledge or if they come to know its ok"

You had better check with your lawyers about the "without their knowledge" part.  There are laws in some places about that ... unless you are the NSA.

  • Any commercial package is most likely going to be like what you are using.  After all, if you are doing it without the end user's knowledge, that is considered illegal in some areas and commercial packages try to avoid that sort of thing.

You can institute a personnel policy - disable the software once and get a warning, disable it twice and get something more dire, disable it three times and you are out.

FWIW, I'm glad I don't work in an environment like that.

This option is not as silly as it sounds. We regularly make redundancy's because users access their home machines when they have been told not to. What you are looking for is spy software, I think you can get them from up to £50 a head.

I should mention though, you say you have remote workers.....will their internet connection be able to handle the network traffic required to record everything back to your servers?

  • Hello. You can try the <g class="gr_ gr_26 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" data-gr-id="26" id="26">Acethinker</g> Free Screen Recorder Online. I have been using it for months now and it is really working well. It is available in Mac and Windows. What I like about it the most is that it has no time limit when recording. You may give it a try and see it yourself. :)

  • Hi there, I'm not quite sure whether you would like to have a screen recorder or a surveillance camera. I assume the latter. Maybe you could try a thrid-party program called Joyoshare Screen Recorder. To record silently, you can choose to unable both system audio and microphone. Just to add, it can record videos in 1080P.
