changing log on as for a service fails with error code -2130771849 for any service or account RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,

running version 6.2 (build 9200) in a vm.  no group policies applied to computer and it's a clean installation. domain is running at server 2008 r2 functional level.

I'm getting this error if I change log on as for a service to a local account or domain account:

Windows could not start the <service> on Local Computer.  For more information, review the System Event Log.  If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific  error code -2130771849.

In the Event Log, the error is:

<service> service terminated with the following service-specific error:  %%2164195447.

I'm testing with the Operations Manager 2012 client but this all started when we couldn't run SQL Server 2012 services with a domain account.

You get prompted to allow the user to run as a service and nothing warns you that it's not going to work until you restart the service.

is there any reason why this would happen in Server 2012.
