  • Hi

It is stated on the Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2: System Requirements page that Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 supports a maximum of one terabyte of RAM, while the Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2: Frequently Asked Questions page states under the section Hyper-V Server: Architecture, Memory and CPU that Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 supports a maximum of 32GB of RAM and 192 virtual machines. In addition, the Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2: How To Get It page states that Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 is available as a free download, and the Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2: Frequently Asked Questions page states under the section Microsoft Hyper-V Server Licensing that Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 will be available in the Retail, Volume Licensing and OEM channels.

Hence, I have several questions in regard of Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2.

    2. Is the maximum number of virtual machines supported by Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 384 VMs or 192 VMs?
    3. Is Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 a free product, or does it require a license which costs money? If it is not a free product, where can I find pricing information?
    4. What is the maximum number of physical processors (sockets) supported by Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2? Is it 8 sockets or 64 sockets?

Thank you to all respondents in advance. Any information you can provide would be helpful.
