Unable to communicate outside of subnet - Windows 2008 Standard DC RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a DC at our colo running Windows Server 2008 Standard. For some reason now it cannot communicate with any IP address outside of it's network. It can communicate with the machines on it's network just fine. All other machines at that site are accessible and can communicate with our site's machines. The issue appears to be an internal routing issue local to that server.

    Any ideas?

  • Do you have any firewall software, antivirus software installed on this DC? It could be the firewall preventing the access to anything but the local subnet. Have you tried disabling the firewall and then ping a machine in another subnet by its IP address?

  • Per supplied information one can understand that everything was fine but something happened it stopped working. As Zhang pointed out above that it could be firewall but as you have tried disabling firewall so let me ask you a question. What changes occured between the period "everything working" and "not working now". Be little descriptive so we may understand what exactly is the issue.
