Very slow performance for RD Gateway compared to TS Gateway RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've recently replaced a Windows 2008 TS Gateway and farm with a new 2008 R2 one. It has effectively been configured as per the previous version.

This all works except that the connection times are much longer than on TS Gateway. For example, using RD Gateway via a .rdp file to the farm or a specific computer can take up to 30 seconds to connect. The old farm took about 3-5. Using the remote desktop connection via rdweb takes a similar amount time.

Scanning all the event logs concerned shows no obvious problems.

I have seen a few other acticles where people recommend unticking the bypass gateway checkbox for the rdp connection. This may have helped a little but not much.

I'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions as to why the performance compared between TS Gateway and RD gateway in the same environment should be so different?

    With Thanks,

    Rob

  • Confirmed, problem was caused by inability to perform CRL checks by the Remote Desktop servers.
