RDPClip using all Virtual Memory (Page File) when logged onto servers after using clipboard.

    Question

  • Hi All,

Recently on our servers (several of them)  when admins have been leaving sessions open our servers and they have used the clipboard the server comes to a halt and is very unresponsive

If I look in task manager and add the coloumn for VM Size the RDPClip.exe process is using more than 2GB of memory (all thats available).

If I look at the page file usage in performance  its maxed out, as soon as is end the RDPclip.exe in processes, the page file usage become normal and obviusly the server restores itself.

Further more there is no alerts in the event logs at all.

However we are not always around to end this process and would not like to disable the clipboard via GP as we would like to be able to use it!

    Please help!

    Kris

We are using RDP Client 6.1.7600

  • Hi Sainath IRP_MJ_CREATE

We are using windows server 2003/2003 r2, on ESX 3.5 and ESX 4 and some physical boxes, the issue occurs when we copy text a web link, path or any text for that matter from a server to the desktop and vice versa then for no apparent reason when a session is logged onto a server for a randomn period of time (usually 4 + hours) rdp clip will just steal all the VM memory max out the page file and grind the server to a halt until this is ended.

Please advise if you require any specific information?
