Windows Server 2012 R2 Core - DLNA Streaming RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm looking to turn my Server 2012 Core into a DLNA capable media streaming box.

I'm really struggling to do it on core, any ideas?

    Thankyou!

  • You may need to install the essentials media pack.

I'd ask them more over here.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

According to my research, Windows Server Essentials 2012 included a media streaming capability (which actually was removed from Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2). However, the functionality is available as a download.

This can also be used with Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and Datacenter editions, provided the Windows Server Essentials Experience role is installed to enable media streaming.

Please notice that Windows Server 2012 R2 Core does not included. In other words, you cannot have this function on Windows Server 2012 R2 Core.

Install and Configure Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials or Windows Server Essentials Experience
