    Question

  • last night one of our servers burped 5 times and reset itself.  The only thing I could get out of the madness was that it reset and rest etc... Nothing indicating hardware issues or power supply memory etc...  The only thing that stands out is that the machine hasn't been rebooted in quite some time.

  • Hi dage,

What's your server's operation system version and service Pack?

If it's a Windows 2003 Server, the following hotfix might be helpful to resolve the issue.

You may experience an abnormal shutdown on a Windows Server 2003-based computer after the Windows logon screen saver starts.

My server is running windows 2003 Standard svc 2.  I have administrated some windows updates and it seems to be stable at this point with no reboots since last Saturday.  Saturday morning we administrated the windows updates and all seems to be stabilized at this time.  I beleive that RPC had an issue with the services and just burped.  Hopefully we will be ok from this point on.  :)..

    Thanks for the feedback.
