    How to manage a Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V server in a workgroup environment remotely?

     

    Answer

    To manage a Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V server, you can install the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) on a Windows 7 client and then use the HVRemote tools to do necessary configuration which enables remote management in a workgroup environment.

     

    To do so, please perform the following steps:

     

    1. Go to Turn Windows features on or off.
    2. Open up Remote Server Administration Tools.
    3. Open up Role Administration Tools.
    4. Select Hyper-V Tools.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Download and run the HVRemote tool on your Windows 7 machine and your Hyper-V server to properly configure security and other required settings. The HVRemote tool can be downloaded from the following link:
