SCCM SUP does not sycronize with WSUS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys!

In my infrastructure there is a totally independent SCCM server and WSUS among them.

I have tried to configure the SUP pointing to the WSUS server but this throws synchronization error, I have followed the steps indicated by Microsoft such as
1- install the Wsus console on the SCCM server
2- upload the SUP role in SCCM pointing to the WSUS server

But despite the above, the following error still appears:

  • Hi,

Referring for the WCM.log log file, make sure that there is no firewall issue between your site server & WSUS/SUP with the 8530 port and the SUP has Internet access to sync updates.

    Regards,

    SAAD Youssef

  • Try this and check the sync again

    Net stop wuauserv
    rd /s %windir%\softwaredistribution\
    Net start wuauserv

it looks like the it failed to configure the SUP on remote server .Make sure the firewall ports and permissions are configured correctly.  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/hierarchy/ports

  • Hi,

According to the log files, please kindly try running the following PowerShell command elevated on the Primary server and then restart the SMS_Executive service.

    Install-WindowsFeature -Name UpdateServices-ui

It installs the necessary WSUS files on the Primary server without installing the full WSUS console.

    Reference: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/ryancatlin/2017/07/05/remote-configuration-failed-on-wsus-server/

    Hope above information helps.

    Best Regards,
    Tina

  • Hi GUys,

Finally I uninstalled the WSUS on the server that was and installed WSUS on the same SCCM server, with that solve the problem.
Thanks to everyone for your replies

  • I think you needed to apply the WSUS Management Console via Powershell (to avoid the post install taks headache) to the primary site server, especially given error code 0x80131701.
