modifying hosts file for non admin users RRS feed

     I have edited the win8.1 hosts file successfully while logged in with admin rights

    When I am logged in as administrator, the entries to the host file work in the browser.

    However, when I am logged in as a non admin user, the host entries do not work.

    Anyone have any suggestions on how to provide the hosts file entries for non admin users?

    Hi,

     

    Based on my research, you cannot modify hosts files with for non admin users.

    You need administrative rights to change certain settings. Unless you modify the rights of the file.

     

    As with any act of changing permissions, you may have to take ownership of the object(s) to change permissions, you could refer to this for more information:

    Take Ownership of a File or Folder
