Server 2008r2 KMS Activation using existing KMS server

Question
-
We have a KMS server running on Server 2003 for activating Office 2010. We are now deploying Server 2008r2. Can we use the same KMS to activate the 2008r2 servers, or do we need to install an additional one? What would be the correct procedure?
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello netwrkmgr,
I'm sorry but maybe I didn't understand; are you asking to activate brand new 2008r2 servers with KMS Server already installed on 2003 Server ?If so, KMS 1.2 installed on Server 2003 can distribute activation keys to Windows Server 2008 R2 if it has been patched (like written on Blog Article).
About Office 2010 activation, look at this link: Office 2010 KMS installation and troubleshooting.
Bye,
Luca

Hello netwrkmgr,
look at this useful guide: Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Availability & KMS Updates.Microsoft Support Article 968915 has detailed information on installing the Key Management Service (KMS) 1.2 for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and for later versions of Windows Server 2003. KMS 1.2 provides support for the following KMS client installations:
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2)
- Windows 7
- Windows Vista and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2)
According to the Volume Activation Planning Guide, the KMS service does not require a dedicated server.
Bye,
Luca

Thanks for the response. We are already running KMS1.2 on a 2003 server for Office2010 activations. I don't see Office 2010 listed above as a client Can we just add an additional key to the KMS for 2008r2?
Thanks
