ADMT error when translating security RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm getting an error doing Security translation after migrating two users and mailboxes.

     migrating win2003r2 --> win2008r2 using ADMT 3.2 on win2008r2

    I tried googling this and I see no solution. Help!

  • Did you try to restart the ADMT server?  How many ADMT server/console do you have?

    Can you access \\HHSRV.havenhouse.org\ADMIN$\ from ADMT server?

    Do you see any other ADMT agent on this machine?

  • Hi Santhosh,

    Yes I have restart hhsrv and the admin share is ok.  I did not mention that admt is the DC and it is where I'm running the admt console.

    I tried renaming the dll that is causing the problem, but then i get an error starting the admt console.  I found I can work around this by starting admt console and start the first few steps of the security translation.  Right before I do the pre-check I rename the dll to dllxx.  I also get the error with another dll in the same dir.  I also rename that dll to dllxx.   After the two renames the pre-check passes and I can complete the translation.  This isn't the best solution, but it got me through the step.

    Is there a better fix??  Is running the admt console and the remote agent on the same  machine supported??  I did not read where this wasn't supported.

  • Do have any antivirus software locking these files/folders? Did you try to exclude the folder?

  • NO anti-virus software on servers.  I can confirme that renaming the .dll files that they are not locked until the ADMT agent tries to install or when ADMT is running.  Excluding the folder isn't an option since it is the installing agent step that is failing not the actual translating of security scan.

    BTW, The first time I ran the security translation on hhsrv it passed the pre-check, but I wasn't sure I wanted to run it until I migrated another test user so I canceled it.

    I think you have tired this option many times on the same machine and something got corrupted on this particular machine.  Did you try to run Security Translation on other machines?  Are you getting the same error?

  • I have tried migrating a workstation and everything went well.   Yes it does appear that something is corrupted on this machine.  Maybe ADMT thinks that the agent isn't installed when it is.  My problem is this is where most on my users data files exist and I need to run security translation freely.  I have spent many hours on this already and I hoped I could pin-point the problem.

  • I had the exact same error when running the security translation wizard using ADMTv3.2.

    For me the issue was due to that fact that I'd already ran the security translation wizard on the server previously. The client had made some changes to the source and we needed to re-run the translation. When I kicked-off the wizard I got the ERR2:7006 etc.

    I popped onto the source server and renamed "McsDmMsg.dll.mui" and "McsDmRes.dll.mui" and then the wizard kicked into life.
