Access to a share using FQDN gives access denied error

  • Environment:

    Windows 2008 R2 Domain

Several Clients connected (15) XP and 7 Pro mix

Just installed new computer, joined it to domain, added to AD container and can only access 1 of the 2 shared folders that are mapped at login.  Error I receive when trying to access the share is simple "Access is Denied". This happens under any user or administrative account.

    Share example:

    net use n: \\aaaaaaa.aaaaaaaaaaaaa.aaaaa\shared - not accessible

    net use o: \\bbbbbbb.bbbbbbbbbbbbb.bbbbb\applicat - accessible

both share are using the same FQDN, I have verified the folder and share permissions and reset them.  This error only occurs on the newly installed computer, no other computers or users are experiencing the problem

If I change the login script to just use computername\share I can then access the share.  The easy answer is to just change the script, but want to know if anybody has run into a similar problem and what the resolution was.
