user home drive mapping RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working on migrating novell eDirectory environment to microsoft AD environment. I am trying to create a group policy to get every domain users home drives to map to a new Windows 2012 server with all the users' data copied over from Linux/OES server. So how can I use gpo to map every domain user to his corresponding folder existing at the Windows server without creating a new one (or new home directory)?

Please advise and thank you very much in advance.

  • thank you for the response. So shall I have to go through each user object to set up home folder? Is there any quick way?

    Thank you!

First the script center gallery - there are tons of Powershell scripts
    to bulk modify users.

Second dsa.msc - you can select a couple of users at once and enter
\\server\share\%username% as the home folder path.

Third the good old ADModify.NET :)

Numerous other methods are available - csvde.exe, dsmod.exe (feed from a
    text file), xyz.

Not via GPO, but via ADUC/ADAC/dsa.msc/Set-ADUser. The home folder is
part of the user object in Active Directory.

  • Hi,
Here is a similar thread regarding using PowerShell to create user home directory in AD, you could take a look and use for reference:

Besides, if you have any questions about the script, you could post your questions in PowerShell forum:
