  • Question

  • Friends,

    We are facing one strange issue on one of the Windows 2008 SP2 (Non R2) server, the server is going into hung state and sometime giving blue dump, but it is not creating Blue Dump file and under system events log we are getting below log.

    Description:
    An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably.The Registry could not flush hive (file): '\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE'.
    Event Xml:
    <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
      <System>
        <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-General"
        <EventID>6</EventID>
        <Version>0</Version>
        <Level>2</Level>
        <Task>0</Task>
        <Opcode>0</Opcode>
        <Keywords>0x8000000000000000</Keywords>

        <Correlation />
        <Execution ProcessID="4" ThreadID="80" />
        <Channel>System</Channel>
        <Computer>

      </System>
      <EventData>
        <Data Name="FinalStatus">0xc000014d</Data>
        <Data Name="ExtraStringLength">36</Data>
        <Data Name="ExtraString">\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE</Data>
      </EventData>
    </Event>

    Virtual Memory has been set to Manually to 200 GB (Physical RAM is 128 GB)

    This is happening frequently and due to no dump file we are not able to find out where is the issue, we also checked and found that there is no hardware issue on server.

    Please suggest..

    Regards

    SH
