Installation on Dell PowerEdge 1950

    Question

  • I'm installing Windows Server 2008 Standard x86 on Dell PowerEdge 1950 server. Everything seems fine until (close to first reboot point) system shows this message:

    Code Snippet

Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation.

To install Windows, restart the installation.

Hard disk have small hidden active partition with Dell Utilities. I'm attempting install system on another partition. Could this might be source of problem? What should I do?

P.S. Server have another (clean) hard disk. May be I should install system on that disk?

  • Hello,

A hidden partition could cause this problem. So, I'd like to suggest deleting all the partitions (including the hidden partition) and reformatting the disk, see how it goes.

Besides, please contact DELL to confirm if the PowerEdge 1950 supports Windows Server 2008, and take a look at the BIOS settings, make sure the boot hard disk drives of the disks has been pointed to the proper disk.

Please try this and let me know how it goes.

    Best regards,
