ASR VMWare to Azure

    Question

  • We are currrnelty configuring ASR for VMware to azure and the Master Target and local Process Server have registered fine with the configuration server and the vcenter server appears connected fine to the vault. We are able to select a VM to protect and the hostconfigwxcommon shortcut appears on the sources desktop so something seems to be happening. However the who process gets stuck with "in progress" when running the "Identifying the replication target".

    Any suggestions would be grateful.

  • Installing the Mobility Service manually and configuring it with the external IP and Port of the configuration server appears to have got around the first issue and the source server appears to be replication to Azure.

We are setting this replication up over the public internet so would the process server be trying to configure the Mobility Service with the internal IP/Port of the configuration server rather than the external?

The process server is configured with the External to get it to connect to the configuration server in the first place.

We have many servers to replicate so getting the push install correct is quite important so any help would still be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,  On what version you are on?  GA?  or Preview?

If it's communication over Public internet, then all communication should happen with public IP's.

    Thx-Gopi

  • Hi Gopi,

    Its on GA.

If I manually install the mobility service on the source VM and input the configuration servers external IP then as you say all works fine. The problem is when I try to roll the mobility service out automatically. The program installs and the shortcut appears on the desktop of the source machine but then the install fails.

I'm not 100% sure but it looks as though its failing when it attempts to configure the mobility service.

  • Hi,

Firstly you should check the azure storage connection by http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/5c8189b9-53aa-4d6a-a086-013d927e15a7/

which was done configuration? Over-VPN or Non-VPN?

by the way, be sure to that you use a user's privileges on the server you want to replicate.
