Windows Server 2016 -- what can be managed remotely?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm hoping to get Win2k16 Server toward upgrading domain controllers and file/print server.

What parts of Win2k16 can be managed remotely?? -- without rdp'ing/logging into server?? And how do we do this?? RSAT??

I'm looking to have the DCs be Core servers with DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Terminal Services/RDS licensing and Group Policy...plus perhaps Services, Computer Management...keep these servers small and maintain security...

For the file/print server I probably need the GUI version?? -- so shares and printers can be managed etc.

Can I manage all this remotely on the servers?? If so, how??

    WSUS?? Probably not??

Is it possible to flip Win2k16 Server between Core and GUI without rebooting??

    Thank you, Tom
