Difference between AD DS 2008 R2 and AD DS 2012

    Question

  • Hi,

What are tthe Difference between AD DS 2008 R2 and AD DS 2012 ? I couldn't find any documentation on that.

Asking this question here as there is no seperate forum for AD DS 2012 yet.

By the way, I know that 2012 is still a RC !

    Thanks

  • Thanks Rafic, information is helpful.

Do you happen to know any reference which details out   head to head comparison between 2008 R2 and 2012 AD DS ? I am searching all over the internet but no use :(

  • Hi,

AFAIK, there is no head to head comparison available till date, as 2012 final build is yet to be available to public. General Availability seems to be on October.

  • There was a great webcast on Channel 9 that Dean Wells presented at TechEd this past June but it appears to be missing.  There are a couple of other presentations by Dean but the key one is missing.  I'll see if I can track it down but not sure if I will be able too.

  • Hi,

You can use Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) in Windows Server 2012 to more rapidly and easily deploy domain controllers (on-premises and in the cloud), increase flexibility when auditing and authorizing access to files, and more easily perform administrative tasks at scale (locally or remotely) through consistent graphical and scripted management experiences. AD DS improvements in Windows Server 2012 include:

    Virtualization that just works

    Simplified deployment

    Simplified management

    AD DS Platform Changes

  • Hello Being Human,

thanks for taking your time working in the forums and i fully agree with you about the self-proposing answers problem.

But it would be nice if you can be also the kind of professional person and remove at least the last part from your statement starting with "Microsoft Contingent Staff's are...".

Keep in mind that all people here trying to do the best they can and i hope you can agree with me that blaming people that way is not a good way to handle, even if you are not agree with the way the forum is allowing the markings.

  • Being human, lets maintain the professionalism & not to target individual or group of people. I never bother about points are my post not selected as an aswer & lets leave this answer things becoz we all here to learn from each other & points obtained by marking answers are truly worthless, if you compare the amount of learning you get it here.

My request is lets not indulge into such unprofessional way to show dissent among something you are not happy with. You can suggest to the microsoft, if you are not happy with something but truly, this is not the right way.

    Thank you for understanding.

I understand you may have complaints, but this is not the way to do it. A signature was not meant to be an Occupy Wallstreet RED NEON SIGN BILLBOARD grabbing everyone's attention. I'm part of non-tech forums where members proclaim poltical and other beliefs, but they are non-tech forums that allow opinion based posts. The Microsoft Technet forums are purely technical forums.

My suggestion is to detune it a bit, to help maintain the professionalism in the Technet forums, not scare away new folks seeking technical assistance, and lodge a complaint through proper channels, such as:
