DFS not repliction - "no initial replication" but preseeded with robo copy RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a very large share 20TB and i copied it with robocopy to the new file share. robocopied it again to the 2nd dfs share and enabled DFS and Replication. its been two days and i tested something and it not replicating. I ran a diagnosis report that says that it is still doing its initial sync....

Did i miss a step or is there a way to speed up whatever process is taking too long?

  • Hi,

Based on your description, my understanding is that DFS replication stuck at "no initial replication".

Please try to use below PowerShell cmdlet to set primary member:
    dfsradmin Membership Set /RGName:<replication group name> /RFName:<replicated folder name> /MemName:<member you want to be primary> /IsPrimary:True

    Set-DfsrMembership:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/dfsr/set-dfsrmembership?view=win10-ps

Force AD Replication with below CMD command line on DC:
    Repadmin /syncall /Aed

Initiates an update of the Distributed File System (DFS) Replication service via below PowerShell cmdlet:
    Update-DfsrConfigurationFromAD -ComputerName <name String>

Then, manually disable and re-start the replication to check the result.
