how to restrict domain Clients Access to their Local drives and only give them Access to Mapped network drives ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi friends , how are you ?

    i have a win 2008 R2 domain with win7 clients

in my domain , i want to do a config so that my domain clients when open their my computer, they don't see any drive other than the Mapped network drives ( or if they can see their local drives too, they be unable to open their drives either via GUI or typing local path or command prompt ) .

( the solution is not using mapped drive tools in preferences node of Group policy , because that only hides the local drives but clients still can connect to it via typing local path ( c: ,  d: ) in the run menu )

( also the solution is not removing users NTFS permissions from Drives root via configuring file system settings via File system node in computer configuration of Domain Group policy , because there we are restricted to add only drives which their drive letter exist in domain controller ( but clients may have more drives so here we need more drive letters )

    any solution please ?

    thanks in advance
