Windows Server 2016 Datacenter license

Question
-
If we purchase Windows 2016 Datacenter how many Windows 2016 VM's can we install on the server without purchasing additional licenses.
I was thinking with past server licenses you could run 1 or 2 VM's of the same OS version as the host with the same license key. How does that work with Datacenter.

Probably unlimited but better to ask your license provider's trained specialist or contact microsoft directly.

Agree with Dave that you should talk to your licensing specialist. And in your discussion remember that there is a significant difference between 'install' and 'run'. No matter what license you have, you are limited only by the resources of your system as to how many you can 'install' (create). But licenses may put limits on the number which can be run simultaneously.
