Installing Software

    Question

  • Hello all,

What is the recommend method for installing software onto multipoint. Is it best put the server into maintenance mode and does multipoint configure all software for a multi-use environment?

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

yes, it´s recommended to install software under maintenance mode.

BTW multiuse - It´s depending on type of installation of the new software. Some of them have built-in option, that you can choose if you want to install it for current user only or for all users. But usually, there is no problem with running apps in multi-use environment.

  • In addition to what Karel said, you will occasionally run into problems with installing a software program if it requires a volume license, such as Microsoft Office. But most applications will automatically be usable for any user on the system.

Another issue that some people have with installing software also has to do with application compatability. You can check out the app compat site here: http://rdcompatibility.com/compatibility/Default.aspx?srv=4 to see more information about programs that have been tested with MultiPoint Server.

  • Hi there,

In relation to installing and configuring software, there is this testing application that we use to have multichoice tests for our students.

Now whenever I need to make a change to the settings for the test (like removing the pause button or show answers etc), it is not applied to all the logins. Only the New users logins have that applied. Are there steps to propagate changes to application settings across all users?

    Cheers,

    Rohan
