From one of our DNS servers I try to perform a tracert to the following client
tracert -4 10.10.64.66
Tracing route to EDC [10.10.64.66]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.10.62.1
2 <1 ms 7 ms <1 ms 10.150.150.6
3 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 10.150.150.9
4 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms EDC [10.10.64.66]
EDC is our Domain name. Why would dns return that?
I did check and there is no DNS reverse entry for the ip address 10.10.64.66 (a forward record does exist but no reverse).
So if a reverse record does not exist does it return the domain name by default? I wouldn't think that would be good but perhaps that is the case?
It depends on node type (See ipconfig /all)
