Hyper-V Manager error: The operation on computer failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Client: Windows 10 Pro, Hyper-V Manager on a workgroup
    Settings on the Client Computer
    1. Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts -Value %HV-FQDN% -Concatenate
    2. cmdkey /add:%HV-FQDN% /user:%Domain\UserName% /pass:%DomainPassword%
    3. Enabled Remote Access COM Security for ANONYMOUS LOGON on the client computer

Server: Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter, Hyper-V Host on a domain

Issue: After the client was upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro, Hyper-V Manager can no longer display the virtual machines on the Hyper-V Host. The Hyper-V Settings and Virtual Switch settings of the remote Hyper-V host are still visible.

Error Message: The operation on computer %servername% failed.

Can you please help fix this issue.

  • Hi Ariel,

    >>Settings on the Client Computer

Are the settings made after the upgrade?

Which account are you using? If you log on the Hyper-V host using the account, could you see the VMs?

    >>Error Message: The operation on computer %servername% failed.

Check in Event viewer to see if there were detailed error messages.

    Best Regards,
