Multiple error from MsiInstaller with Event Id 1014 & 1015 RRS feed

    x86 architecture
    I am working on an incident where application event log is full of MsiInstaller warning 1015 & error 1014 event ids (details below);

    Event Source: MsiInstaller
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1015
    Date:  23/11/2012
    Time:  11:29:20 AM
    User:  NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

    Description:

    Not sure what's causing it or how to fix it.

    Please try to re-register msiexec:

    1. run msiexec /unregister
    2. reboot
    3. run msiexec /regserver

  • Thanks mate, as a matter of fact I tried that moments after posting the question albeit without the reboot. I'll come back with the results shortly.

  • So I didnt give server the much necessary reboot but checking application log today gave me same errors.

    Found 2 X M$ KB http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc735564(v=ws.10).aspx AND http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc735600(v=ws.10).aspx

    Both are pretty much identical so will follow them & post my results

  • OK so after registering the MsiInstaller service & then rebooting the server now I my application event log is full of informational alerts related to MsiInstaller, example event id 1035 (below) & 1042
