Hyper v Replica RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

First of all tell me what is advantage of hyperv replica? Now a days productions are using Hyperv replica?

    I have 2 hyperv servers.

    Hyperv01 and Hyperv02

I have one VM01 on hyperv01 and i have created VM01 replica on hyperv02. If my hyperv 01 went to down then i will manually power on vm01 on hyperv02?

  • Hello,

Hyper-V replica makes the cost lower for disaster recovery.

If the hype-v hosts are deployed in many branches in different geographical locations, the VMs in the branches can be replicated to the headquarter asynchronously. If the hosts go to down in branches, Hyper-V replica allows quick recovery with minimal downtime and failover workloads to the headquarter

In another scenario, if the Hyper-V hosts are deployed in datacenter, and to achieve Geographic Redundancy, you can deploy Hyper-V hosts in another datacenter with Hyper-V replica.

Failover for Hyper-V replica isn't automatic. During taking failover, you have to power on VMs on the replicated Hyper-V hosts.

More information about Hyper-V replica, you can refer to the following article.
