Bitlocker - Drive not detected, asks to format.

    问题

  • Greetings.

    Situation:

Laptop with encyrpted drive (bitlocker) fails (unable to boot). Data recovery is required. Hard Drive is removed and connected to a system running Windows 7 Enterprise. Instead of drive being detected as encrypted, a Window requesting to format the drive is displayed. Both computers are on the same domain.

    Question:

Why are we not being prompted to enter the bitlocker recovery key? Could Group Policy be an issue? Do we need to setup recovery agents?

We have tried this with a number of working encrypted drives with the same results.

答案

  • No, there is no tool to decrypt the drive. You need to put the password or use the recovery key that;s created during encryption.

  • That's my problem. It's not prompting for the recovery key. I just get a prompt requesting that I format the drive.

  • Ok. That's not what I am looking for. I have an external drive dock. If I boot up my computer, logon and then insert a bitlocked drive into this dock (or any dock) it prompts me to format it. It doesn't matter if the drive is good or bad.

It should just prompt me for the reocvery key.

My Windows 7 is not detecting any drive I attach as being bitlocked.

  • Did you ever find a solution to this problem. i have a similar problem. I have a USB 2.0 external drive Bitlockered, same HDD moved to a new USB 3.0 Enclosure, prompts to format. Move the drive back to the USB 2.0 enclosure, everything is fine.
