i having issue ”outlook search” failed to work with an error message "Instant Search is not available when Outlook is running with administrator permissions. To use instant search, exit and restart outlook without administrator permissions".
Here what I did for troubleshooting:
- “run as administrator” is uncheck in compatibility mode (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\outlook.exe)
- Rebuild index database (http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/976786)
- Uninstall office 2010, restart laptop, install office 2010 and install MS Office 2010 SP1
- create new outlook profile
None possible fix from above is not working.
What i have:
- sumsung series 5 laptop
- windows 7 ultimate 64bit
- MS office 2010 32bit
- exchange 2010 for my email
is there other possible fix to this issue?

It seems that you have tried all the steps in KB976786.
At this time, create another Windows user profile with user permission and test if it works. Find another same topic thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/outlook/thread/d400ffef-2b41-4db6-8b66-8452b92266bd/ . It seems the account with admin permission cannot build the indexing correctly.

A new Office has arrived, try it now.
A beautiful Start. It begins here. Windows 8 and Windows RT.

Tony,
thanks for your reply. that solution i have not tried yet. my computer account and my laptop is in the domain environment. yes, i can create local account to test but i need to login to my domain account to work. how can i reload my domain account without losing any data?

You don't reload your domain account, just setup your mail account again to test if the search engine works. Or you may let your co-worker logon your machine for testing. We need to confirm if the issue is caused by a Outlook app self or Windows user profile relevant.
Thanks.
