    my question is:

    i am running a windows 2012 r2 datacenter with mak avtivated.

    i want to install a windows 2012 datacenter KMS host key.

    error shows "Error: 0xC004F050 the software licensing service reported that the product key is invalid."

    Is this an expected or not?

    Hi,

    The error code 0xc004F050 indicates that the KMS key doesn’t match the Windows edition.

    Therefore, if you would like to install a Windows Server 2012 R2 KMS Host, you need a Windows Server 2012 R2 KMS Host Key.

    Otherwise, you need to setup a Windows Server 2012 KMS Host or Windows Server 2008 R2 KMS Host with this update installed to match your KMS Host Key.
