    Volume Shadow Copy并不是Windows 7的独有功能，而是从Window XP时代便存在卷影副本的概念，在Windows Vista和7中进一步加强和人性化。

    在Windows 7中已经将卷影副本和系统还原功能分离，即用户可以自己选择单独开启系统还原或卷影副本功能，但两项功能都属于Windows 7的系统保护功能，默认情况下同时开启系统还原和卷影副本功能。

    准确来说系统还原和卷影副本在功能上是完全相同的，不同的是系统还原是针对系统文件，比如Windows目录下的文件；卷影副本是针对用户的文件，比如word、excel文档等。

    Volume Shadow Copy 服务的作用是管理并执行用于备份或其它目的的卷影复制，依赖于 Server 服务。如果任一服务被关闭，“卷影”选项卡就会消失。
