Domain change when upgrading SBS2003 to SBS2008- can I use the answer file tool? RRS feed

  • 一般討論

  • I'm planning to migrate my SBS2003 server to a new 64 bit SBS2008 server.   In reading the Microsoft instruction document to Migrate to Windows SBS2008 from Windows SBS2003 (

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=123547) the guide suggested creating a migration answer file to ease the migration.   However, I wish to change my domain name since the SBS2003 server was originally configured incorrectly by the previous IT guy.

Any comments?   Due to the limitations on SBS servers having only one domain controller with one domain, I feel that I may be limited in my options to change the domain during migration without a lot of hassle and possibly regret....

  • Hi,

My recommendation is to separate our the the domain rename project from the server migration project.  Each are complicated proceedures, and combining them will increases the liklihood of difficulty.
