  • When I copy all folders and files of SAN disk drives from a machine installed Windows server 2003 standard edition by using robocopy to SAN disk drives of machine installed Windows server 2003 enterprise edition.  Comparison the result of files migration from source server to destination server, the window explorer shows different free space on those servers.

Source server's free space of 1st SAN is 21.6GB of 184GB and 2nd SAN is 22.3GB of 184GB.  Destination server's free space of 1st SAN is 8.04GB of 184GB and 2nd SAN is 19.7GB.

I try to select folders and files under SAN to show its properties and get the following result.

    Source server:
1st SAN - Size is 156.9GB, Size on disk is 170.9GB
2nd SAN - Size is 159.7GB, Size on disk is 161.9GB

    Destination server:
1st SAN - Size is 156.9GB, Size on disk is 170.9GB
2nd SAN - Size is 159.7GB, Size on disk is 161.9GB

From those method, the disk usage of both of two server is same.

However, the window explorer shows free space is quite a different between source and destination.
