Outlook Pop3 users received duplicated Email RRS feed

  • 問題

  • Dear Sir/Madam,

    Good Day!

I would like to ask about the duplicated Email problem.

I got Exchange Server 2010 and users are using Office 2003 or 2007 MS Outlook for receiving Email.

Some users may need to receive 30 accounts (which keep 3 days copy in server)

all accounts in same domain. POP3 to receive.

I know it won't happen if those accounts not keeping copies in server.

But I want to understand what triggers the accounts always receive duplicate Email.

    Thanks a lot!

    Lukas Cheng

解答

  • Hi Lukas,

This is a common issue while a file named "pop3uidl.dbx" is not working anymore,

UIDL is a POP3 command used to identify the last email received by POP3 protocol,

if the pointer in pop3uidl.dbx is not working anymore, you will receive duplicated email.

You may try to find this file in your computer and delete it as a workaround.

but it is not assured to fix your problem, sometimes it is because of your anti-virus software.

I personally suggest you to use IMAP protocol in exchange 2010 instead of POP3.

In fact both IMAP and POP3 use a lot of exchange server resource to create a connection,

so beware of your server performance when you have more user doing the samething.

    Thank you for the reply!

If I change to IMAP, would this problem happen same as POP3 ??

    Thanks!
