  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

Do you know how to customize OWA 2013?

I know you can copy a theme, edit and set it a the default theme on owa 2010, just wondering how you do it on owa 2013?

    Thanks

  • I am on a project where they recently customized the design of the OWA logon page. I'm pretty sure that they edited the pages directly to change the color and graphics.

If you choose to do this, expect that updates may wipe out your customizations and be prepared to put them back.

  • Hi there,

Exchange 2013 TechNet documentation on customizing the theme appears thing on the ground at the moment.

However there is some great third party documentation and blogs, but mostly around the login page.

"How to Customize the Outlook Web App (OWA)Sign-In page in Exchange 2013" http://careexchange.in/how-to-customize-the-outlook-web-app-owasign-in-page-in-exchange-2013/

Additionally for Exchange 2010 there are no Exchange 2013 versions:

"Customize the Outlook Web App Sign-In and Sign-Out Pages" http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633483(v=exchg.141).aspx

"Introduction to Outlook Web App Customization" http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/exchange/bb891803(v=exchg.140).aspx

I'll try and find out when this information is coming to TechNet.

    Oliver

  • Have a look at this article, not sure if this is what you're after?

    *Appears to be 2010* http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201700(v=exchg.150).aspx

    or perhaps

    http://searchexchange.techtarget.com/tip/Giving-OWA-themes-a-makeover-in-Exchange-2013

I'm looking for info on how to edit, add or remove items from the Top Right Navigation bar... i.e. Add a Customer's SharePoint as a link, or to their Inhouse CRM etc. Has anyone had any experience with this in 2013 OWA?

  • Just to update you guys from my original answer.

The reason information is thin on the ground for Exchange 2013 is because it's still not officially supported at this time.

FYI I wrote a script and posted on the TechNet Gallery to assist with automating the rebranding of OWA 2010. I am assuming the process will be similar in 2013 where changes to the graphics and themes will be supported, and minor tweaking of the default page would be unofficially ok:

Apply Rebranding to the Outlook Web App Logon Page.

Shameless self plug I know, but I thought it was appropriate.

    Hi there,

That article appears to link to Exchange 2010 - as far as I am aware official guidance for Exchange 2013 is still not out in the wild

  • Hi Oliver,

I agree with you but this article also applies to Exchange 2013 as well. I did the same for our Exchange 2013. Thanks.

  • Hi there,

It may work but it doesn't state it is for Exchange 2013 - it states Exchange 2010 only. I believe official guidance is coming.

For now our response should be "No official guidance currently exists, however if you follow "x" you can perform some customisations, however it is not supported".

  • All,

I was informed yesterday by the Exchange PG that the following two articles are for customizing OWA for Exchange 2013

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633483(v=exchg.150).aspx

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201700(v=exchg.150).aspx

The discrepancies relating to Exchange 2010 SP2 will be rectified ASAP - however you are safe to follow these and will be supported.

    Many thanks,

    Oliver
