Windows Media player 12 has problem streaming live ASX file RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having problem playing live stream from the internet. I think it was working before windows update to Explorer 9 and updated latest driver for sound card.  The ASX or ASF file on the internet server being live streamed was created using Window Media player 10.  It gives me an C00D11B1 error.  However, I am able to play it on a high speed public network with the same laptop.  So it couldn't be my firewall.  I have Verizon DSL.  Other laptops at home (XP, Windows 7) can get live stream from internet so it wouldn't be my router.  I can play downloaded ASX from the same site, just not live streaming ASX.   I had found a hotfix link from Microsoft on this same error code for WMP 11 on XP and Vista.  I think it may describe my problem closely if not accurately.  Do you have a hot fix for Windows 7?

On another website which uses flash player to watch live stream instead of Windows Media, I also have the same problem.  It works at public network but not at home.  I haven't found any solution yet from the Microsoft site.  Please help!
