logon script location RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

We currently applying the logon script using the user's properties in ADUC:
    - user's properties
    - Profile tab
    - user profile section, logon script field

The scripts are currently contained in %SystemRoot%\sysvol\sysvol\domain_name\scripts as normal.

we have quite a few scripts generated and thinking of do a bit of management on it.
so we've created a new folder under it called test and tries to call it again but it never works.
apparently the scripts file that we can use is the one that available under the ...\scripts folder, not its subfolder.

is there a way for it to "read" the content of the subfolder?

  • Create a main script residing in the Netlogon and call scripts residing in the subfolder from within it...

  • If the script is called Logon.vbs and it is placed in the folder Test under the standard Scripts folder, then enter the following on the "Profile" tab of ADUC:

    .\Test\Logon.vbs

  • Hello,

you can't change the netlogon folder to another level. It is buy design. If you like to use scripts in the subfolder call them via a batch placed in the netlogon. That should do the job you like to have.

Don't mess around with the netlogon or sysvol folders, you can run into trouble.

  • Hello Andrew,

According to my testing, the logon script configured under user profile tab of ADUC that will not be executed in the following path, unless you are using logon script in the GPO.

    %SystemRoot%\sysvol\sysvol\domain_name\scripts

I suggest you try to use default script path and check if the issue can be resolved.

    \\DC\sysvol\domain_name\Policies\{Unique ID}\User\Scripts
