The following steps describes a short introduction into how you can create (or re-create) a Default SCCM Boot Image (with integrated Windows PE 4.0) for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 ServicePack 1.



This article refers to full installation of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 with Service Pack 1 and WDS (PXE-Role) enabled.

  1. Install Windows Assessment and Deployment Toolkit (ADK) for Windows 8 via Microsoft Download Center
  2. Optional: Install Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012 with System Center Configuration Manager 2012 Integration via Microsoft Download Center
  3. Reboot DP Server
  4. Run Deployment and Imaging Environment (Windows ADK) as Administrator
  5. Re-Create Boot Images via COPYPE.CMD

COPYPE.CMD x86 c:\WINPE86

COPYPE.CMD amd64 c:\WINPE64

COPYPE.CMD arm c:\WINPEARM

  1. Extract boot.wim from ..\sources\ Folder and copy to SCCM DP-Share
  2. Integrate boot files from share into SCCM
  3.  Check boot packages properties and enable "Distribute on PXE DP" on "source" Tab.

NOTE: If you are using Windows 7 WAIK there are different steps to do!
