Test Lab Guides (TLGs) are a modular content set that describe how to create simplified and standardized test lab environments to demonstrate Microsoft products, technologies, features, or end-to-end solutions.

TLG content can be created by anyone and published in the TechNet Wiki, the TechNet Gallery, or in their own publishing venue. This article provides links to a series of topic that describe how to create and publish various types of TLG content.

• Modular TLGs describe how to set up and demonstrate a feature, technology, product, or end-to-end solution for either a Base Configuration test lab or a test lab based on another modular TLG. For instructions, see Wiki: Creating and publishing a modular Test Lab Guide.
• Test lab extensions describe how to configure additional functionality or advanced or uncommon configurations based on a working test lab. A test lab extension extends a modular TLG but typically does not create a new test lab environment that other TLGs can build on. For instructions, see Wiki: Creating and publishing a test lab extension.
• TLG mini-modules include the essential configuration steps to get an existing and working test lab to a new working configuration, skipping the demonstration steps. For instructions, see Wiki: Creating and publishing a TLG mini-module.
• Troubleshooting TLGs describe the troubleshooting tools and how they appear in a working test lab and take you through a set of troubleshooting scenarios, which demonstrate the results of a misconfiguration or other type of common problem and guide the reader through the root cause determination and correction. • Troubleshooting scenarios provide an additional troubleshooting practice in a working test lab. For instructions, see Wiki: Creating and publishing a troubleshooting scenario.
